Full disclosure: I am still creating this website.
Each summer, as part of my day job, I take workshops offered through my school district. Most are taught by fellow teachers. Almost all of the ones I find have a common element: independent work time and a chance to explore.
This can often be a good thing for me, especially during the summer, when the magnetism of the work e-mail and calendar is far less powerful. If I cannot click over to another (probably open) tab and see either of those, I am more likely to find good outlets.
Sadly, I am still in the initial momentum phase.
As with other creative pursuits, there is danger that the next thing will come along and displace this excitement. By which I mean, “swipe.”
Working against me? Well, besides forces of internal nature….
I am very slowly building this site using a class I am taking, discovered through a workshop I am taking, found through another workshop I took, happened upon through our summer course catalog. The rabbit hole of interest and learning.
The course provides an impediment I do not need: it releases its learning modules two at a time, every week.
This sounds great, in theory. In my practice, if I do not capitalize on the creation of this site while I can, some other form of creation will capitalize on my mind.
My brain gives attention to novelty and things of interest. For me, most of those are about creation. And, as I have to wait to create this site, there will be other things I want to create.
Even if I never leave my house. Even if I never open my eyes.
I cannot quiet the brain.
So, maybe this will be the second post of many. Or, maybe this will be the second post of four; dead on impact.
The meteor is time.
